When Sheryl Findley and I began the Papillion Center for FASD in 2010 we knew that TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) would be foundational to the Center and all that we did. We had both experienced this intervention as professionals and as parents, most importantly, we knew it worked.
In 2011, we were blessed to go through TBRI Practitioner training with TBRI founders, Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross. Focus on the Family sent 70 therapists through the training in hopes that it would make a difference within our communities. We were thrilled to be included in this group to say the least.
Each year, our team soaked up TBRI information through the yearly conferences of Empowered to Connect.
In 2015, I went back through training again with some of our team. Again, such a blessing!
In April 2016, we lost Dr. Karyn Purvis to cancer. The research and work that she and Dr. David Cross did has impacted individuals and families across the globe.
The Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development has carried on the vision and continues to partner with Show Hope for the Hope for the Journey Conference. They make this available all over the world. To be utilized in communities through local churches and organizations.
Erin Goodman, LCSW, the Executive Director of our Paducah, Kentucky office, and I have been blessed to be a part of taping for the conference the last couple of years. This year was an added blessing to have my son, Joshua, with http://www.joshualeggcoaching.com, to join us this year as well.
Hope for the Journey will be airing in multiple locations throughout the US and world from April 5-June 30. Checkout http://www.showhope.org for more information on where you can join in.
